We are pleased to now offer a fantastic alternative to travelling between Christchurch and Wellington. With our Sounds Air Throughfare, we combine a scenic rail journey onboard the Coastal Pacific service with a range of flight options to cross Cook Strait on Sounds Air. Heading north, we offer travel from Christchurch and Kaikoura to Wellington and vice versa.
The flight takes just 25 minutes and you will enjoy panoramic views of the Marlborough Sounds as you cross Cook Strait. With up to 8 return flights per day, there are many different options for enjoying Picton and the surrounding wineries. Sounds Air offer Coastal Pacific customers shuttle transfers between Picton Railway Station and Picton Airport.
Terms and Conditions
Tickets are non refundable and non transferable, a $35 amendment fee will apply for any changes made outside of 48 hours before departure, no changes can be made within 48 hours of departure. The Sounds Air flight has a luggage restriction of 15kgs per paying passenger with excess luggage charged at $3 per kg payable at airport check in. Please note that the flight is unlicensed and no alcohol may be consumed onboard. Subject to Coastal Pacific General Conditions of Carriage.
