Marlborough

marlborough

Regarded as New Zealand's sunniest province, Marlborough is an area of great natural beauty, which lies in the north-eastern corner of New Zealand's South Island. The landscape is diverse, stretching from the sheltered waterways of the Marlborough Sounds in the north down to Kaikoura in the south, where snow-capped mountains meet the sea.

The province is home to an expanding number of successful wine companies - accounting for over 50% of New Zealand's total wine production. It has a developing gourmet food industry, as well as forestry, horticulture, marine and pastoral farming. All of which thrive in Marlborough's temperate climate.

Perfect for outdoor activities, the region is a popular tourist destination. There is a huge variety of scenic and recreational attractions including wine tasting and tours, swimming with dolphins, whale watching, fishing, diving, wild life tours, water skiing, horse trekking, tramping, kayaking and boating in the Marlborough Sounds. In winter the Mt Lyford Ski Field, inland from Kaikoura, offers both novices and experienced skiers alike the opportunity to enjoy the mountain slopes.
